So today my family and I took a drive down to PHX for the weekend and stopped at a close friend's house. My father assisted her with paperwork and applications to attend graduate school here in America and now she is a successful meteorologist. We were welcomed by her and her husband, and one of her professors, as well as a loving Labrador retriever - Marry. The house was built in the 1930's, and displayed character that every homeowner desires in their own home. I have always had the habit of keeping to myself in company that doesn't allow me to "be myself" but tonight - well it was something different. They all shared stories of reconnecting with past childhood friends, HS and college classmates who they hadn't seen for 30+ years.
I would have to say tonight was one of the most remarkable moments in my life. Hearing all these stories of these people meeting others they lost touch with many years ago was simply inspiring and makes you realize how fast time passes by. It seems like people just get so caught up in their daily lives that they forgot the things that make life meaningful. I feel like this is a great way to start my new blog, Cakelife, and it is at my request that you try and reconnect with someone who you haven't talked to for a significant amount of time. Ponder over it and act upon it.
And so I leave you here with this: "We were all lost in our own little worlds throughout our adventure. And before we knew it, it was closing time." - Johnny Earle, creator of Johnny Cupcakes clothing.
Goodnight world.
